Several ministers in the Red and White Cabinet convened at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta to address the plight of laid-off PT Sritex employees. The meeting, which was led by Prabowo, aimed to find solutions for the affected workers. Those in attendance included Minister of Manpower Yassierli, Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, and PT Sritex Curator Nurma Sadikin.
During the meeting, Prasetyo expressed the president’s deep concern for the workers and stressed the importance of promptly resolving the issues stemming from PT Sritex’s bankruptcy declaration in October 2024. The ultimate objective is to rehire approximately 8,000 employees within a new working framework in the textile sector. Minister Yassierli praised the curator’s dedication to potentially reemploying former Sritex workers within a two-week period.
Prabowo’s unwavering commitment to offering support and guidance is anticipated to bring much-needed relief to PT Sritex employees affected by the layoffs. The Ministry of Manpower is actively protecting the rights of PT Sritex Group employees by ensuring they receive appropriate layoff compensation and other entitlements. The PT Sritex Curator Team is in the process of selecting investors to oversee Sritex’s assets with a fresh approach, ultimately leading to the reinstatement of the laid-off employees. This strategic move aims to provide stability to the affected workers and offer a resolution to their current predicament.
