Fahri emphasized the importance of the President’s decision, noting that it reflects a desire to end social polarization and promote broader reconciliation. This move has been seen as crucial in preventing disunity and fostering societal harmony. The Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR) has approved the amnesty for 1,116 convicted individuals, including Hasto Kristiyanto, under Presidential Letter No. 42/Pres/072725 dated July 30, 2025.
Amnesty and abolition are tools provided to the President under the Indonesian Constitution to eliminate legal consequences from criminal convictions. Fahri Hamzah hopes that President Prabowo’s exercise of constitutional power will be viewed as a genuine effort to reunite the nation and combat fragmentation.
