Formula 1 and the FIA have responded swiftly to criticisms of the 2026 regulations ahead of the Miami Grand Prix, earning praise from Will Buxton. In a recent Up To Speed podcast, Buxton commended the quick changes, noting that it is uncommon for adjustments to be made so promptly in today’s competitive championship landscape. He highlighted the collaborative effort between Formula 1, the FIA, teams, and drivers in addressing fan feedback and implementing necessary modifications without delay.
The revised regulations aim to enhance racing by modifying energy management parameters, such as reducing the maximum recharge limit to 7MJ and increasing peak super clip power to 350kW. Additionally, the race boost has been capped at +150kW to mitigate dangerous closing speeds between cars. Other notable changes include the introduction of a low-power start detection system to prevent grid collisions by triggering the MGU-K automatically, as well as increased intermediate tyre blanket temperatures for improved wet-weather grip.
