SiwinduMedia.com – Yanuar Prihatin, the leader of Commission II of the Indonesian House of Representatives, together with the General Election Commission (KPU), conducted socialization of the simultaneous Regional Head Elections (Pilkada) in Kuningan Regency on Wednesday (14/8/2024).

In his speech, Yanuar conveyed that all members of the community should participate in the implementation of the 2024 Pilkada by maintaining security and order, inviting others to come to the polling stations (TPS) together, and ensuring that the election runs directly, openly, freely, and secretly.

“Let’s support the KPU, let’s together ensure that the upcoming Pilkada runs smoothly, maintain security and order for a conducive situation. Next, let’s encourage people not to abstain from voting. Let’s also participate in ensuring that the election is free and secret without pressure,” he said in Linggarjati, Kuningan.

The PKB faction legislator also emphasized that differences should not lead to division in society. Because it will harm all parties and undermine the democratic process.

“Different choices are allowed, but differences should not damage the relationships among the community members. What used to be a bond and gathering can turn into division, that should not happen,” Yanuar said.

The son of KH. Ahmad Bagja, the declarator of PKB and the Secretary General of NU during Gus Dur’s era, also emphasized the importance of choosing leaders in the Pilkada to determine the fate and progress of a region, in this case, Kuningan Regency.

“Indonesia’s progress is because its regencies are progressing. Regencies progress because their villages progress. So, if the regional leaders do not understand the foundation of progress, which is to advance the villages, then the region will have difficulty growing,” said Yanuar.

Because, he continued, what builds a regency is not the government departments, but the departments are just bridges to facilitate the development process in the region, which is based on the villages.

“If our villages thrive, if we have 70 percent of self-sufficient, advanced, successful villages, with good income for the residents, that means the village is strong. This will contribute to the overall economic growth of Indonesia,” he concluded.

For information, the simultaneous Regional Head Elections in 2024 are scheduled on November 27, with the registration of contestant pairs on August 27-29, and the announcement of candidate pairs on September 22.

The organization of the 2024 Pilkada is regulated in the KPU Regulation No. 2 of 2024 concerning the Stages and Schedule of the Election of Governors and Deputy Governors, Regents and Deputy Regents, as well as Mayors and Deputy Mayors in 2024.
